Today I will:
I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 (NASB)
In today's world where the media bombards us with constant negative news, imagery, and dialogue, it is far too easy to forget the good things that God is doing in our world. Despair, hopelessness, and general negativity are constant threats to our daily outlook. The pessimists seem to get it right much more than do the optimists. How can we impact a world so full of problems that our greatest efforts to do good seem easily overcome?
We have to remember the power of light over darkness-that even a small candle can light a dark room enough for us to see our next step clearly. While many would gladly sit on the sideline and criticize, only those who dare to hope accomplish much that is worthwhile. While the odds against success are intense, new ventures still start up and succeed regularly, Can we truly afford to let pessimism keep us from following our dreams?
We have to take Jesus' advice in the matter. Like the person planning to build a tower, counting the costs first and ensuring that everything needed to succeed has been procured, we must put in the hard work necessary to build towards our own success. Don't let pessimism sap from you your energy and determination. Believe you will see the goodness of God, and then be 'diligent to follow the dreams He has given you. Let the critics and pessimists say whatever they like, Learn from them, but don't let them take away your hope and faith in what you are doing.
